Sacred Geometry, 6th grade student
So many projects…….
Imago Dei students worked at promoting sustainable holiday celebrations by facilitating a Found-Object Mask Making activity at the St. Philip’s Art Fair. The booth was stocked with an amazing array of collected and donated left-over and re-purposed materials, from wire and nuts and bolts to dried roses and window screen. For seven hours, students, families, and other adventurous souls worked together to make amazing art-masks. Sad thing is, I forgot my camera that day, so NO PICTURES!!
Back in the classroom, we have jumped into our studies of extinction and endangerment. Looking at biodiversity and the causes of animal/plant extinction, we will be doing 3 big projects as a visual inquiry on the topic. All the works will be done using the refuse from the school, although I will have to buy some masking tape and glue. Pictures to follow!
Greenbuild next week! The student architecture team and myself will be there and working on a hand-on activity to design sustainable habitats for indigenous Arizona creatures.
Open Studio is exploring DIY clothing and accessory design, using thrifted materials and non-toxic dyes while they are waiting to begin the mural painting…….and it looks like the mural will have a new home at the Big Brothers, Big Sisters building downtown. They are also planting a winter aromatherapy/organic greens/native wildflower garden in the yard that should take us through the end of May.
